This course is designed for expat students who would like to be able to make basic conversation in a short period of time. It focuses on developing students’ speaking and listening skills.
We apply communicative-based approach in our teaching. During the course, students will be taught Khmer basic, for example, Khmer alphabets, how to form and read Khmer words, phrases and sentences through transliteration; then, they will learn from easy to more challenging Khmer conversations; by doing so, we enable them to understand and speak Khmer more quickly.
Besides in-class teaching, students will have an outdoor activity related to what they have learnt, which is an opportunity for them to have real conversations with local people; students will not only become more practical but also can understand more about Cambodian living and culture as well.
At the end of this course completion, generally, students will be able to:
- transliterate Khmer alphabets, words and phrases to English
- speak in basic conversations with local people
Assessment methods: Students will be followed up by homework and random quiz
