This course is designed for expat students who would like to be able to make basic conversation in a short period of time. It focuses on developing students’ speaking and listening skills.
We apply communicative-based approach in our teaching. During the course, students will be taught Khmer basic, for example, Khmer alphabets, how to form and read Khmer words, phrases and sentences through transliteration; then, they will learn from easy to more challenging Khmer conversations; by doing so, we enable them to understand and speak Khmer more quickly.
Besides in-class teaching, students will have an outdoor activity related to what they have learnt, which is an opportunity for them to have real conversations with local people; students will not only become more practical but also can understand more about Cambodian living and culture as well.
Objectives:
At the end of this course completion, generally, students will be able to:
- transliterate Khmer alphabets, words and phrases to English
- speak in basic conversations with local people
Assessment methods: Students will be followed up by homework and random quiz
