General Department of Immigration of Ministry of Interior figured out that there are 99.49% of Vietnamese immigrants among Cambodia’s entire immigrants of 25 nationalities, corresponding to 46.516 families or 160 872 people.
The statistic of Vietnamese immigrants-99.49% or about 160,000 Vietnamese people among the 160 872 immigrants- is a statistic of the whole country’s immigrant census carried out in the cities and provinces founded by the General Department of Immigration over the last one and half year. The result of this immigrant census-conducted from March 2015 until August 2016-was reported by the Police General Sok Phal, Director of General Department of Immigration in the report meeting on the ongoing implementation of the country’s immigrant management at Ministry of Interior this Friday morning.

For the indicated data shown above, the General Department of Immigration said in the meeting that its team was able to collect the census data of only over 85% of the entire immigrants due to the facts that some immigrants avoided participating in the census, and others were travelling to do business abroad, especially to Vietnam.

The Police General , Sok Phal, a reader of immigration report in the meeting , indicated that most immigrants live in  Phnom Penh ,16.860 families equivalent to  54.801 people, 6.968 families equivalent to 26.724 people live in Kandal province, 4.672 families equivalent to 20.341 people live in Kompong Chhnang province, 4.357 families equivalent to 16, 323 people  live in Prey Veng province, and there are only around a hundreds families in other 21 provinces.

Be reminded that formerly, the immigrant census data in 2002 was 19.437 families equivalent to 70.012 people, and in 2010, there were 21.713 families equivalent to 100,000 people.
